As the Alabama State Youth Directors, we desire to benefit all of our local churches by being totally accessible, networking with Pastors/Youth Pastor to bring solutions to the problems facing this generation, assist in raising up future leaders to continue the ministry of the church and redefine what youth ministry is all about by fully operating in the Spirit.
As of 2008, the YM has taken on the name Hydrate. God spoke to us about what He wanted to do through this ministry with one word… Hydrate. Now the opposite of hydration is dehydration. We live in a day of spiritual dehydration. The world lacks a true genuine relationship with the Living Water. Sadly, most churches today have become deserts, lacking power, relevance, and life. We desperately need hydration. The world and the church must drink deeply from the Lord, if we are ever going to make it out of this world alive. It’s time we free our hands, by setting aside the cups of this world and the cups of religion, then with those same hands, take up the cup of Christ. Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks of this water [cups of the world/cups of religion] will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give will never, no never, be thirsty any more. The water I will give will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14.
Only JESUS can satisfy! Lasting joy, endless peace, and soul satisfaction can only be found in a growing relationship with the Son of God, Jesus Christ! If you don’t believe us, we dare you to give Him a try! All it takes is one sip. “O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good…” Psalms 34:8a
Notice, we stress that a growing relationship with Jesus Christ is humanity’s greatest need. We are not saying we have arrived nor do we have it all together. We are simply saying we are on the “Journey to Becoming”. Everyday learning, growing, living, loving, but most importantly, becoming the type of people God created us to be. Join us as we travel this road to discover: Who God is and who He is not. Who Jesus is and who He is not. What Jesus’ sacrifice means. Who we are and who we are not. And lastly, who we’ve been created to be. Hydrate is all about abundant life. An abundant life just means a full, satisfied life. That life, true life is only found in Jesus. Jesus Christ is the Water that our souls are thirsting for!
Join us, a group of travelers, called Christians, as we journey down the road called “Becoming.” My wife and I look forward to seeing you at one of our local churches, or maybe at the Hydrate Tour (which is an evangelistic tour that travels), or at one of our camps hosted by our very own Camp Boothe, or maybe in the local coffee shop, in the Birmingham area where we live, drinking a latte and talking about Living Water!
